The White House National Science and Technology Council is updating its National Aquaculture Development Plan for the first time in 40 years. The National Science and Technology Council's Subcommittee on Aquaculture finalized the draft overview of the National Aquaculture Development Plan, released earlier this year for public comment.


CAIA releases first sustainability report for salmon farming sector

Salmon producers in Canada have embraced the commitments made by the Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance (CAIA), as it is reported in its first sustainability report for the Canadian salmon farming sector.


BCSFA says net-pen salmon farming ban could cost Canada $9 billion

The report, Economic and Financial Impacts of the Draft Transition Plan for BC Salmon Farms, analyzes the impacts of a ban on net-pen salmon farming that the Government of Canada proposed in the Draft Salmon Aquaculture Transition Plan for British Columbia on September 2024.


NOAA seeks public feedback on Gulf of Mexico's Aquaculture Opportunity Areas

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is requesting public input on a draft programmatic environment impact statement supporting the identification of aquaculture opportunity areas in Gulf of Mexico federal waters.
