There's only one word on everybody's lips right now: tariffs. The U.S. tariffs have gone into effect and, as previously reported, will impact consumers. The seafood industry is asking the Canadian government to support local seafood producers.

The Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance (CAIA) has responded as U.S. tariffs go into effect against Canada and Mexico today. CAIA says the introduction of 25 percent tariffs on Canadian products will hurt Canadian and American families, communities and businesses.


Sundew, Mote to tackle hazardous algal blooms

Sundew ApS, a Danish biotechnology company, is collaborating with Mote Marine Laboratory, a marine research organization, to develop natural solutions for hazardous algal blooms based on Sundew’s marine microbial extracts.


Study:

A new study has found that removing open net-pen salmon farms in British Columbia will have no detectable effect on wild salmon population productivity in relation to reference salmon populations.
