U.S. senators Brian Schwartz and Roger Wicker have introduced the Marine Aquaculture Research for America Act to advance the development of commercial, open-ocean aquaculture in U.S. federal waters.

The B.C. Salmon Farmers Association’s annual Community Appreciation BBQ raised a record $7000 for a local food bank. While supporting the food bank, community members also voiced concerns about the 2029 BC salmon farming ban.

New test speeds up cancer detection in clams

A new test developed at Roger Williams University may detect hemocytic neoplasia (a contagious cancer) in hardshell clams much faster than current methods. The test is also claimed to be more sensitive.

Mowi reports thousands of salmon dead in incident mortality at Newfoundland farm

Mowi Canada East confirmed that about 10 percent of Northern Harvest Sea Farms' salmon stock experienced an "incident mortality." The mortality event affected more than 17,600 fish.
