A new test developed at Roger Williams University may detect hemocytic neoplasia (a contagious cancer) in hardshell clams much faster than current methods. The test is also claimed to be more sensitive.

Mowi Canada East confirmed that about 10 percent of Northern Harvest Sea Farms' salmon stock experienced an "incident mortality." The mortality event affected more than 17,600 fish.
