New Labelling Regulations for Canadian Baked Goods, Special Meeting July 7th 11.00 am EST

The Baking Industry of Canada has been engaging with Health Canada on the new labeling legislation for pre-packaged foods. Please see details below. We are having a special Q and A meeting on Thursday morning (July 7) to discuss any concerns or questions that you may have regarding the new rules and how they impact our Baking Industry. Canada announces front-of-package nutrition labelling

Health Canada is introducing new nutrition labelling regulations for packaged foods requiring a symbol on the front of packages indicating that a food is high in saturated fat, sugars and/or sodium. The regulations come into effect on July 20, 2022, and require completion by Jan. 1, 2026.

MacKie to step down from ABA to support family

Longtime American Bakers Association president and CEO Robb MacKie will step down at the end of 2022 to focus on family matters full time.

Canadian farm gate milk and butter support prices to increase effective Sept. 1

The Canadian Dairy Commission will increase the farmgate price of milk and the support price for butter for the second time in 2022 in response to a request from the Dairy Farmers of Canada for an increase due to inflation.
