Preventing officers from becoming stars of the next viral video

Do officers know how to react when they have a camera pointed at them? Lack of knowledge of the rights of the public to record can easily result in negative outcomes. In response to this, the IACP, with support from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), created the Public Recording of Police (PROP) project to focus on identifying an effective response to these situations.


Saskatchewan adds officers to tackle growing crime

Saskatchewan is adding more police positions, giving other officers more power and will lobby for a crackdown on young offenders to try to tackle growing crime rates, especially in rural areas.


Alberta drafts guidelines on police street checks

The Alberta government will launch community consultations in the form of a survey to help draft new guidelines around the controversial practice of police street checks, also known as carding.
