Feds unveil ads warning of drug-impaired driving dangers

Ahead of its July deadline for legalizing recreational marijuana use in Canada, the federal government has launched a campaign that will see ads air on TV, radio, online and in movie theatres, warning of the risks of drug-impaired driving.


Charges stayed in ‘Surrey Six’ slayings

A trial stemming from the murders of six people in British Columbia has fallen apart after a judge stayed charges against a man, referencing misplaced evidence, the testimony of a confidential informer and the fair trial rights of the accused in her decision.

Hate crimes up three per cent

Police-reported hate crimes in Canada rose three per cent from 2015 to 2016, according to a new report released by Statistics Canada. StatsCan says the increase in hate crimes was a result of more incidents targeting South Asians and Arabs or West Asians, the Jewish population, and people based on their sexual orientation.
