B.C.’s coroner says over 1,422 people died of illicit drug overdoses last year

The B.C. Coroners Service said last year’s death toll is 43 per cent higher than 2016 when 993 overdose deaths were recorded.


StatsCan releases data from 2017 survey on opioid awareness

Most Canadians aged 18 years and older said they have some level of awareness about the opioid issue in Canada, stated results from Statistics Canada’s 2017 Survey on Opioid Awareness, released last month.


RCMP overhauls Auxiliary program

Following consultation with Auxiliaries, provincial, territorial and municipal partners and other stakeholders, the RCMP is implementing a new Auxiliary model that includes three tiers. Provinces and territories will be able to choose one or a combination of the tiers based on local needs and circumstances.
