NFPA releases world’s first active shooter/hostile event standard

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has released NFPA 3000TM (PS), Standard for an Active Shooter / Hostile Event Response (ASHER) Program to help communities “holistically deal with the fast-growing number of mass casualty incidents that continue to occur throughout the world.”


RCMP collaborating to modernize Canadian National Sex Offender Registry

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) will be working with OffenderWatch, a public safety sex offender registry network in the United States, to modernize the Canadian National Sex Offender Registry. This marks the first time OffenderWatch, headquartered in Covington, La., has worked with a law enforcement agency outside of the U.S.


Use of Force Simulation Lab for police training opens in Brandon, Man.

The Manitoba government, Assiniboine Community College and the Brandon Police Service (BPS) have partnered to develop a Use of Force Simulation Lab, which has been officially opened at the college’s Victoria Avenue East campus in Brandon.
