Canadian Coast Guard opens search and rescue station in Victoria

A new Canadian Coast Guard search and rescue station was opened earlier this summer in Victoria, B.C. The details of two new Coast Guard lifeboats that will be stationed on the West Coast were also discussed by Terry Beech, parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard.

SIU shouldn’t investigate cops for failed attempts to save OD victim: OPP union

The union representing provincial police officers in Ontario is calling on the Special Investigations Unit to end the practice of launching an investigation when an officer unsuccessfully administers naloxone to an overdose victim.

Safe injection site in London, Ont., reports 13 overdoses this month

Residents in London, Ont., are being warned about potent forms of fentanyl and heroin linked to 13 overdoses this month at a safe injection site. The Regional HIV/AIDS Connection, which helps operate the site, says staff were able to reverse the potentially lethal effects using naloxone in each case. » Read more...
