RCMP offers ‘deepest sympathies’ to family of spokesman after coroner’s inquest

An inquest has heard how a former RCMP spokesman experienced a deterioration of his mental health before he died by suicide in 2013. It was recommended the RCMP evaluate its mental health strategy and offer a variety of methods for mental health education.

Ronald Taverner appointed new commissioner of OPP

A veteran Toronto police officer has been named the next commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police. Supt. Ronald Taverner will take over the post on Dec. 17, according to a news release from the provincial government.
