Stricter drunk driving laws take effect

New rules that increase penalties for drunk driving and expand police powers to demand breath samples took effect across Canada on Tuesday, with some predicting the law will face a series of legal challenges.


Greater Toronto Airports Authority to implement integrated incident management system

A suite of software from Hexagon’s Safety & Infrastructure division has been selected to improve incident and work management at Toronto Pearson International Airport. This dispatch system will also integrate with partner organizations across jurisdictions, including Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services, Peel Regional Paramedic Services and Peel Regional Police, as well as NavCanada.


Safer opioids actively being reviewed for epidemic

Public health officials across the country are seriously considering increasing the supply of safer opioids to quell a crisis that newly released data show helped claim more than 2,000 lives in the first half of the year.
