Dancing in the dark with gun smugglers

The government recently announced $51.5 million in new funding for the CBSA to fight gun smuggling. Funding was announced for training in deep concealment searches and canine teams. This is all good news. But there’s one thing missing: intelligence.


Maximizing de-escalation

The ultimate goal for police officers is to de-escalate a tense or potentially violent situation using as little force as possible in order to bring the event to a safe and successful conclusion. In order to maximize the ability for officers to avoid force, the Delta Police Department has trained its entire sworn cadre in a technique called ICAT (Integrating Communications and Tactics).
