RCMP plane chases fleeing helicopter as part of major cross border drug bust

RCMP east of Vancouver were involved in a cross-border drug bust this summer that involved nearly 300 kilograms of meth, more than 100 guns and an aerial chase between a police plane and a helicopter.

An inquest jury is recommending that Saskatoon police be given heavier-duty equipment to deal with risky traffic stops, especially involving large vehicles, after a crash during a high-speed pursuit that killed a young man.


Ontario invests $3M to boost Toronto CCTV network

Ontario is spending $3 million to more than double the amount of closed-circuit TV cameras for Toronto amid a recent spate of gun violence. The three-year investment will expand Toronto’s CCTV system from 34 cameras to 74, which Mayor John Tory said will help ensure police have the resources they need to keep the city safe and hold criminals responsible.
