Manitoba RCMP is mourning the on-duty death of one of its own – Const. Allan Poapst. On Dec. 13, just after 4 p.m., the force reports that it appears Poapst was travelling westbound on the Perimeter Highway when a pickup truck, travelling eastbound, crossed the median and collided with Poapst’s RCMP vehicle.

Inner Bay of Fundy Atlantic salmon are legally protected under Canada’s Species at Risk Act as an endangered population. To help ensure their protection, local law enforcement agencies are working with park wardens as part of the Atlantic Salmon Law Enforcement Coalition. Together, the coalition has increased joint patrols and surveillance on inner bay rivers, especially those which have active recovery efforts.

Abdulahi Hasan Sharif, 32, was handed 18 years for striking Const. Mike Chernyk with a car before stabbing him multiple times outside a football game in September 2017. Sharif was also sentenced to 10 years for fleeing from the police and running down the pedestrians.
