Visual card helps Edmonton police and drivers communicate better

In partnership with Deaf and Hear Alberta, the Edmonton Police Service recently announced a new tool, an information card, to help police officers and drivers with hearing loss communicate more effectively.


New Case Law: Reasonable grounds for arrest not as robust as civil standard of proof

British Columbia’s Court of Appeal has once again ruled that the standard for making an arrest need not meet the threshold of a balance of probabilities, the standard used in a civil case.


Officer killed in Perimeter Highway collision “will never be forgotten”

Manitoba RCMP is mourning the on-duty death of one of its own – Const. Allan Poapst. On Dec. 13, just after 4 p.m., the force reports that it appears Poapst was travelling westbound on the Perimeter Highway when a pickup truck, travelling eastbound, crossed the median and collided with Poapst’s RCMP vehicle.
