Ontario moved to crack down on human trafficking by introducing legislation Monday that would give police more power to swiftly access information in suspected cases. The bill, if passed, would compel hotels and similar companies to keep a list of information on guests that officers could request if they believe it could help locate, identify or protect a suspected human trafficking victim.

Cameras bring out more of the best in people, Barrie, Ont., police have found in a four-month pilot project. The local police department tested body-worn cameras on 25 front-line officers on four platoons from October 2020 until Feb. 4 to get a sense of how they can be used and their effectiveness. The officers found them beneficial, leading the force on a path of planning for the purchase of the cameras for 140 to 150 front-line officers.

The Michigan State Police yearly vehicle test for the 2021 model year will mark the 23rd consecutive year that Blue Line magazine has been compiling and reporting the results of the tests for police category vehicles.

Police in Calgary have made an arrest in two sexual assaults that occurred nearly 40 years ago. Investigators have charged Patrick Zamora, who is 64 and from Calgary, in the early morning attacks near the Foothills Medical Centre in 1981.

The union representing correctional workers at the Sarnia Jail says more cleaning equipment and supplies would be vital to help fend off the spread of COVID-19 within its walls. This comes in the wake of a sweeping outbreak of the virus at the Christina St. facility. Last Thursday, there were 14 active cases in the inmate population, along with two guards.

RCMP in Saskatchewan have charged the leader of the Canadian Nationalist Party with willfully promoting hate against an identifiable group. Police say officers began investigating Travis Patron after a report in June 2019 from the Canadian Anti-Hate Network about an alleged anti-Semitic video posted on YouTube.
