The Halton Regional Police Service is the first police agency in Ontario, and only the second in Canada, to transition their members from traditional paper-based notes to electronic notes.

The national spy watchdog says the RCMP is investigating a cybersecurity breach that resulted in the theft of files and the compromise of personal information. The National Security and Intelligence Review Agency says that between March 9 and 19, a hacker gained access to an agency network that included a database with names, phone numbers, email addresses and scrambled versions of current and previous passwords.

The evidence-based policing (EBP) movement has intensified in many countries around the world in recent years, resulting in a proliferation of policies and infrastructure to support such a transformation. This movement has come to be associated with particular methods of evaluation and systematic review, which have been drawn from what is assumed to prevail in medicine.
This is the first book that takes a kaleidoscopic approach to depict what EBP presently is and how it could develop. The chapters individually and collectively challenge the underlying logic to the mainstream EBP position, and the book concludes with an agenda for a more inclusive conceptualisation of evidence and EBP for the future.

British Columbia's police watchdog has cleared Vancouver officers in the fatal shooting of a man in the Downtown Eastside earlier this year. A report released by the Independent Investigations Office Tuesday said the officers' use of force in the shooting on Jan. 5 was "justified, necessary and proportionate."

A lawsuit has been filed against the Alberta government alleging its rules for supervised drug-use sites will have life and death consequences. Non-profit societies Moms Stop the Harm and the Lethbridge Overdose Prevention Society argue the government is not only increasing barriers to the harm reduction service, but breaching the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
