Mass shooting inquiry in Nova Scotia explores fallout of police impersonation

Public trust in law enforcement agencies is undermined every time someone is caught impersonating a police officer, the inquiry investigating the 2020 mass shooting in Nova Scotia was told.


Organized car thieves met head on

As auto thefts continue to rise across Ontario, more than 2,000 vehicles were stolen in York Region in 2021. This was a sharp increase from the 1,417 vehicles reported stolen in 2020 and the 1,384 reported in 2019. Both the volume of thefts and the sophistication of the criminals presented a challenge for the York Regional Police (YRP) Auto/Cargo Theft Unit.


2021 annual hate crime statistical report findings, reported hate crimes increase by 22 per cent

The Toronto Police Service presented its Annual Hate Crime Statistical Report at the Toronto Police Services Board meeting on Monday, outlining an increase in hate crime reporting for 2021.
