Police Powers, 2nd Edition prepares police foundations students for the responsibilities and challenges they will encounter in their future careers. Students will examine the parameters of police powers and authority through key topics related to police governance and accountability. This includes the current use of force model, searching with and without a warrant, incidents related to mental health, and police issues involving the media, as well as discussions about the authority to arrest, detain, and use force. Realistic On Scene and It’s Your Move scenarios challenge students to apply their knowledge as officers of the law.
