‘A transformational decision’: Alberta requiring body cameras for all police services

Public Safety Minister Mike Ellis says officers often respond to calls that are complex and make split-second decisions. He says that can raise concerns from the public about actions that have been taken and whether appropriate force was used. Ellis says the decision is transformational and would ensure all interactions with officers are objective in both large cities and smaller rural communities.

Man fatally stabbed another man, shot and injured 2 officers in standoff: police

A man at the centre of an armed standoff in London, Ont., is accused of fatally stabbing a man he knew before shooting and injuring two officers at an apartment building over the weekend, police said Monday. Police said the suspect didn’t have a licence to own a long gun recovered at an apartment unit where the standoff took place.

RCMP gifts musical ride horse to King Charles ahead of upcoming coronation

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say they will be gifting King Charles with a new horse, Noble, ahead of the monarch’s upcoming coronation in May. The RCMP says the King will be presented with the horse, which is also being given in recognition of the federal service’s 150th anniversary, at a ceremony.
