Three First Nations police services in Ontario have had their funding reinstated, albeit for just a year, after being abruptly cut off by the federal government.


Police governance association wants increased funding for body worn camera programs

Four resolutions were passed at the June annual general meeting (AGM) held by the Alberta Association of Police Governance (AAPG). The four resolutions passed are to increase funding for body-worn camera programs, a provincial mandate to collect race-based data, oversight systems review between ASIRT and ACPS, and bail reform to enhance community safety.


B.C. RCMP announce corruption, drug trafficking charges against former constable

The B.C. RCMP says a former probationary constable at the force’s Surrey detachment has been charged with multiple offences after a months-long corruption investigation. Mounties say the ex-constable faces 13 charges related to drug trafficking, breach of trust, theft, cannabis distribution and conspiracy to commit robbery.


Pride march in Sudbury scrapped due to concerns about police role

Fierte Sudbury Pride cancelled its march scheduled for Saturday as part of Pride Week following statements issued by Black Lives Matter Sudbury calling on the organization to “decentre” police within their programming.
