City of Surrey’s Mayor Brenda Locke has issued a media release claiming that Surrey Police Service (SPS) is running a deficit budget of over $26 million. SPS officers currently make up approximately 30 per cent of the deployed service working to keep Surrey safe every day.

The Ontario government is investing $24 million over three years to help prevent repeat and violent offenders from committing serious crimes while out on bail. “It is unacceptable that repeat and violent offenders are committing serious crimes while out on bail,” said Solicitor General Michael Kerzner.

A recent study of selected murders of Canadian police officers between Jan. 1980 and Dec. 2022 were evaluated by veteran officers and researchers for factors that contributed to their deaths.
