Three Winnipeg police shot, suffer non-life-threatening injuries during standoff

Police in Winnipeg say multiple officers were shot during a standoff at an apartment building where they were responding to a report of a person being held against her will. None of the officers suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident early Saturday on College Ave., and police say two men in their 40s were arrested.


Government of Canada’s interest cap risks criminal surge

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), the voice of police leadership in Ontario, and the Canadian Lenders Association (CLA) are raising concerns regarding legislation introduced by the federal government which could lead to a dangerous rise in criminal activity.


RCMP union pans Saskatchewan marshals plan, says money should go to Mounties

The head of the union representing Mounties says Saskatchewan’s plan to start a new police service is not the answer to address rising crime. Brian Sauvé of the National Police Federation says the province should instead direct dollars it plans to spend on the Saskatchewan Marshals Service to the RCMP.
