Drones, helicopters being considered for U.S. border, public safety minister says

Canada is considering supplying the RCMP and border agency with more resources including drones, helicopters and personnel in case of a “surge” at the border, Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc said Tuesday in response to Donald Trump’s threat to impose steep tariffs on Canadian imports into the U.S.


Delta Police Board appoints new chief constable

The Delta Police Board has announced the appointment of Deputy Chief Harjinder (Harj) Singh Sidhu as the new chief constable of the Delta Police Department (DPD). Chief Sidhu will assume leadership of the DPD on Nov. 25, 2024.


Peel Regional Police announces significant decrease in 911 call wait times

This significant decrease can be attributed to support from the Region of Peel and Peel Police Service Board, public education campaigns on the misuse of 9-1-1, investments in new technology like Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG 9-1-1), and dedicated 9-1-1 communicators.


Chief McFee to retire from the EPS

Chief Dale McFee has informed the Edmonton Police Commission of his retirement from the Edmonton Police Service (EPS), effective February 21, 2025.


Manitoba government funds new investigation unit in Swan Valley region

A new police unit is to be set up in western Manitoba to investigate complex and serious crimes. The NDP government announced Thursday it would fund a portion of the pilot program in the town of Swan River.
