Toronto Police Service marks five-year milestone in ongoing Race and Identity-Based Data Collection Strategy

In 2019, as part of the Ontario government’s Anti-Racism Act, all police services were directed to collect race-based data in use-of-force interactions. The Toronto Police Service included strip searches in this mandate in January 2020 under Phase 1.


New chief chosen to lead New Westminster Police Department

After an extensive national search, the New Westminster Police Board has appointed Paul Hyland as chief constable. Chief Constable Hyland has been a member of the NWPD since 1995 and in the acting chief constable role since June 2024.
