Progress made in transition from Grande Prairie RCMP to Grande Prairie Police Service

Grande Prairie’s transition towards having its own municipal police continues, with five Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS) members joining the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment as of the end of December 2024. Four will serve as general duty police officers and one as a forensic investigator.


‘Support better care’: Advocates argue need for mental health emergency service

Khalil Dorival is a crisis worker with Toronto Community Crisis Service, a project launched in 2022 that responds to mental health crisis calls and wellness checks. The service has been dubbed the city’s fourth emergency response service — after police, paramedics and fire services.


Saskatchewan Marshals Service interviewing Mounties for positions before launching

Saskatchewan’s new provincial police force has begun interviewing Mounties as it prepares to launch this year, a move critics say highlights concerns of job poaching.
