RCMP, Toronto Police Service and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police collaborate to examine the role of police in responding to persons in crisis

Regardless of the location in Canada, police are often the first responders to persons in crisis, yet the public and police themselves have increasingly questioned the role of police in such interactions, particularly when there is no imminent threat to public or individual safety.


Lethbridge Police and Fire partner to enhance patient care and save lives during critical incidents

The addition of Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) will see seven advanced care paramedics, with specialized training and equipment, embedded with the Lethbridge Police Tactical Team to provide immediate medical care to injured civilians or officers at the scene of high-risk incidents, such as hostage-takings or active assailant scenarios.


Moose Jaw chief of police officially retired February 1

In Sep. 2024, Moose Jaw Police Service Chief Rick Bourassa announced his plans to retire in 2025. Chief Bourassa has now identified Feb. 1, 2025, as his official retirement date from the Moose Jaw Police Service.


B.C. fires Victoria School Board over ban on police in schools

British Columbia’s education minister has fired the entire Victoria School Board after a lengthy dispute over its refusal to allow police in schools except in emergencies, in a rare move the ousted chair called “profoundly undemocratic.”
