In order to grow the Canadian wood pellet heating market, the country needs access to modern wood pellet boilers. But there are no small-scale biomass boiler manufacturers in Canada.
The world’s most efficient and modern biomass boilers are manufactured in Europe. Yet the European boiler standard, EN-305, is not accepted by Canadian regulators. For more than two years, the Wood Pellet Association of Canada (WPAC) has been campaigning to change regulations to allow for the use of small-scale European biomass boilers in Canada.
At the virtual WPAC Conference & AGM on Sept. 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST, Dr. Harry “Dutch” Dresser, a consultant for biomass heating market development and regulatory review, will discuss WPAC’s efforts to reform the biomass boiler pressure standards and the potential for success.
