CO2 Solutions announces intent to file for bankruptcy

The notice to file for bankruptcy comes following a review of the company’s strategic alternatives and the announcement of significant cost overruns related to the completion of the CO2 capture unit at Resolute Forest Products’ Saint-Félicien, Que. pulp mill.


West Fraser turns to forest biomass as supply of sawmill residuals declines

Lumber production in Interior B.C. has declined, reducing the supply of sawmill residuals. West Fraser has consequently turned to other sources, such as waste wood, to supply pulp chips to their pulp mills.


Fire breaks out at Cadillac Biomass Plant

The plant’s sprinkler system activated and the fire was extinguished by the local fire department. The fire did not result in any injuries or known environmental violations.


Dow, UPM Biofuels partner to produce plastics from renewable feedstocks

Dow is integrating wood-based UPM BioVerno renewable naphtha – a key raw material used to develop plastics – into its slate of raw materials, creating an alternative source for plastics production.


Brightmark Energy partners with dairy farms to convert waste to biogas

The project is anticipated to generate about 260,000 MMBtu of renewable natural gas each year. The gas processed at each farm will be injected into the Empire interstate gas pipeline.
