Canadian Biogas Association report: more biogas, RNG would help Canada hit climate targets

Biogas and RNG projects currently reduce eight megatonnes of greenhouse gas pollution. A combination of new policies could deliver 26.7 megatonnes of emission reductions in 2030, meaning biogas & RNG could be instrumental for hitting Canada’s 2030 climate targets.


EverGen to acquire 67% interest in Alberta-based RNG facility

The project is currently in Phase 1 of development which is expected to produce 80,000 gigajoules of RNG annually and will be complete by Q3 2022. Phase 2 will add an additional 60,000 gigajoules of RNG annually for a total of 140,000 gigajoules annually.


New Westminster, Metro Vancouver collaborate on Sapperton District Energy System

The system will recover heat from the sewer system and channel it through a network of pipes to provide space and water heating for homes and businesses. It will reduce carbon dioxide-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 8,600 tonnes per year.


SBP publishes its 2021 annual review

By the end of the year, the number of SBP Certificate Holders had increased to 353, representing a 12 per cent increase on 2020. SBP’s geographic reach also increased with the addition of Guadeloupe, Martinique and the United Arab Emirates.
