London firefighters ratify deal with city

After six years without a contract, firefighters in London, Ont., have reached an agreement with the city. The London Professional Fire Fighters Association ratified a collective agreement on Friday night during a meeting between the two sides.


Firefighters rescue woman from crane

A firefighter has rescued a woman who was stuck on the pulley of a crane towering about 12 storeys over Wellesley Street in downtown Toronto. The firefighter and a Toronto police emergency task force officer made the climb inside the crane to reach the woman.


Vancouver firefighter given departmental funeral

A Vancouver firefighter, who was with the department since 1995, has been given a departmental funeral. Capt. Bob Rosenlund, 53, died from presumptive cancer on April 7.


Whitehorse prepares for wildfire season by setting fires

The City of Whitehorse is preparing for the wildfire season — by starting some fires. The controlled burn will happen over 34 hectares along Long Lake Road, across the Yukon River from the city centre. Officials will set fire to mostly grass and brush along the road.
