Ice-water training inquest

Montreal, firefighters reach tentative agreement

The City of Montreal reached a tentative agreement with firefighters Wednesday, over restructuring of the department’s pension plan. The agreement also resolves issues relating to the suspensions and firing of six firefighters following a protest in 2014. After the protest, 54 firefighters were also charged with illegal assembly and mischief.


Tribunal to rule on Caledon two-hatters

Six full-time Brampton, Ont., firefighters, who worked part-time as volunteers in nearby Caledon, faced a board of their colleagues in a tribunal on Monday. The “two-hatters” were answering to charges of violating their association’s constitution.


Search for missing B.C. chief suspended

The search for missing Cache Creek, B.C., Fire Chief Clayton Cassidy was suspended Monday, according to Ashcroft RCMP. Police say dozens of crews had been searching for Cassidy since he disappeared on May 5, with no success. Cache Creek Mayor John Ranta said losing Cassidy is a tragedy.
