NFPA releases stats on Canadian departments

The National Fire Protection Association released profiles on Canadian fire departments that include statistics from 2014 to 2016 on departments and firefighters as well as information on the numbers of fire stations, pumps, ladders and more.


New bylaw forces Renfrew fire chief into retirement

A 61-year-old fire chief in the town of Renfrew, Ont., has been let go after town council passed a policy that meant he would be too old for the job. Renfrew council passed a bylaw that forced all firefighters in the town to retire by the age of 60.


Legislation introduced to regulate rescue training

Oshawa MPP Jennifer French held a press conference to introduce her private member's bill 58: The Brunt and Kendall Act, in response to two safety-training related deaths.
