City of Sarnia names new fire chief

Sarnia, Ont.’s, next fire chief grew up in the Toronto area, but he’s very familiar with the community he’s set to begin serving. Brian Arnold, the deputy fire chief in Cambridge, Ont., will take up the post as Sarnia’s new fire chief on June 10.


Summerside fire chief announces retirement

Longtime Summerside, P.E.I., Fire Chief Jim Peters is retiring. Peters has served the community as a firefighter for 47 years and was fire chief for most of them.

Officials investigating fire at Guelph scrap yard

No injuries are being reported after an overnight fire Tuesday at the Benmet Steel and Metal recycling yard in Guelph, Ont. The call came in just before 1:30 a.m. and when crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flame coming from a large pile of scrap metal found within the compound. » Read more
