Winnipeg union raises concerns over emergency services funding

The head of the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg says 2019 will be “the year that won’t be forgotten” and is concerned the city’s funding for emergency services isn’t keeping up with the demand.


Canada sends more fire specialists to help battle Australia wildfires

As more than 150 fires continued to ravage Australia over the weekend, Canada sent a fourth deployment of fire specialists to New South Wales to help battle the blazes that have so far killed 23 people, burned 5 million hectares of land and destroyed an estimated 480 million animals.


Work underway on new Welland fire service headquarters

Shovels will be in the ground for two new fire halls in Welland, Ont., this spring. Chief Brian Kennedy said site preparation on Welland Fire and Emergency Services’ new headquarters is underway.
