New Brunswick firefighters take electric car fire training

As more electric vehicles hit the road, first responders are having to learn how to respond to car fires and the different approaches needed to safely tackle a fire in an electric vehicle.


Edmonton firefighter adds ‘ice coffin’ to rooftop campout challenge

Five firefighters will be braving the elements from the roof of a downtown fire hall for the next three nights to raise money for a good cause. The men made their way up an Edmonton Fire Rescue ladder truck Monday morning to begin the annual Rooftop Campout for muscular dystrophy. Firefighter Wesley Bauman will be taking on an extra challenge this year when he climbs into an “ice coffin” and surrounds his body with ice.


Yukon First Nations Wildfire receives $1 million funding boost

It was a big enough deal to win an Arctic Inspiration Prize — but that was just the start. Yukon First Nations Wildfire ended up leaving the Arctic Inspiration Prize ceremony this week with more than $1 million in new funding — $410,000 from the prize, plus an additional $622,000 from the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor).
