Last week, officials from the municipality announced the ground-breaking of the new fire station being built in Mariposa, Ont. The Mariposa Fire Station will be the new home to the consolidated stations of Little Britain and the Oakwood, a decision that was brought forward after a location study was conducted through the current Master Fire Plan.

One firefighter was treated on the scene of a blaze that happened in the city’s west end Wednesday. Ottawa Fire Services said they received a 911 call reporting smoke and flames coming from a basement apartment at 935 Blythdale Rd. at the corner of Strathmore Boulevard in Glabar Park at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
