Enfield fire department to stop being paid to cover part of Halifax Regional Municipality

The Enfield volunteer fire department will soon no longer be paid to cover a section of the community that falls within the boundaries of the Halifax Regional Municipality. The municipality pays $40,000 a year for coverage of a section of Enfield.


City of Vernon snuffs support of fire training centre

North Okanagan, B.C., firefighters are being assured that access to important hands-on training won’t be lost. The City of Vernon is pulling out of its lease involvement with fire training centre on Pottery Road. The facility is a burn building which firefighters from Vernon, Coldstream, Lumby, Spallumcheen, Enderby and the Regional District of North Okanagan practice in.


Long-serving Windsor firefighter celebrates 90th birthday in style

Cyril Woodman’s face lights up as he hears the telltale fire siren sound. In honour of his 90th birthday, the Windsor Fire Department in Ontario organized a drive by parade of apparatus featuring trucks from Mount Uniacke to Greenwich.
