The union that represents firefighters and fire truck paramedics is sounding the alarm over a “mass exodus” of fire truck Primary Care Paramedics (Fire PCPs). In a letter to members, United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg (UFFW) President Alex Forrest said 70 Fire PCPs left the program in the last year – the majority over the last two months.

Life is all about finding the missing puzzle pieces and I think I just found another one of mine. You see, I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and PTSD back in 2013 but these problems were issues I’d struggled with most of my life. I knew some of it was likely tied to early childhood experiences and the extent of trauma I was exposed to being a volunteer firefighter for over two decades, but there were other factors I wasn’t aware of until I was older.

A person was found dead and a firefighter was injured in a house fire in central Toronto on Tuesday. Emergency crews were called to the scene of a fire in the area of Rogers Road and Westmount Avenue at around 1:45 p.m.

A 46-year-old man is dead following a fire in Brandon, Man., on Monday. Emergency crews were called to the blaze in the 700 block of the Brentwood Mobile Home Park at about 9:40 a.m., Brandon police said in a Tuesday news release.

A woman who ventured onto the South Saskatchewan River to retrieve a dog had to be rescued by the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD). Officials with the fire department said the RCMP contacted them just before 2 p.m. Monday asking for assistance with a person in the river south of the city.
