History-making firefighter aims to improve fire safety in Indigenous communities, inspire other women

A Saskatchewan woman hopes that her history-making turn as the first female president of the Aboriginal Firefighters Association of Canada will encourage more women and girls to take up the profession.


Whitehorse volunteer firefighter retires after 47 years

After 47 years of service, Whitehorse volunteer firefighter Mark Iceton has retired. Over decades he's attended countless fires, mentored new firefighters and helped the department adapt to change. He retired this week at age 66 without ever having been burned or seriously injured.


Seven members of Markham fire station test positive for COVID-19

Seven members of a Markham, Ont., fire station have tested positive for COVID-19 as the city entered lockdown earlier this week to curb the spread of the virus.
