Brampton to form new equity office in 2021

The City of Brampton is creating an equity office to further support its diversity and inclusion plan. A City press statement said the new office has the support of all of its labour partners, including the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 831; Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1573 and the Brampton Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 1068.


Susan Jones named first executive director of FSWO

Susan Jones is the new and first executive director for Fire Service Women Ontario (FSWO). The newly created position was created with the help of a grant from WAGE Canada, which stands for Women and Gender Equality.


Medicine Hat council approves updated fire response plan

A new strategic fire response plan for Medicine Hat, Alta., recommends mandatory automatic sprinkler systems in several future communities, plus a potential city subsidy on the systems in all new home construction.
