Union wants paramedics out of fire halls, alleging threats and intimidation from firefighters: Winnipeg

The union representing Winnipeg’s paramedics says it wants them taken out of the city’s fire halls immediately, alleging they are being threatened and intimidated by firefighters. Meanwhile, the firefighters’ union is asking the province to take over responsibility for ambulance service in Winnipeg. CBC News reports.


4,300 isolations: Union says Edmonton firefighters should be prioritized for COVID-19 vaccine

Out of 1,300 Edmonton firefighters represented by the union, 55 have tested positive COVID-19 and there have been more than 4,300 isolations due to exposure, the Edmonton Fire Fighters’ Union (EFFU) said. Global News reports.


B.C.’s wildfire season begins with two suspected human-caused wildfires in the interior

British Columbia’s first wildfires of the 2021 season have sparked in the province’s interior. A fire west of Penticton on Farleigh Lake Road E is currently 2.3 hectares in size. According to the BC Wildfire Dashboard, the blaze is suspected to be human-caused. Parksville Qualicum Beach News reports.
