The municipality of Brockton in Ontario and Bruce Power are teaming up to offer training to local volunteer firefighters through the new Brockton Regional Fire Training Centre. Some of the courses the fire training centre will offer involve a live fire aspect, which Bruce Power will support through the use of Bruce Power Fire Training Facility.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has donated $5,400 to the Blind River Fire Department in a bid to provide improved firefighter training. The funding will purchase training videos and modules, inspection cameras, digital workstations, and hard-copy literature. Elliot Lake Today reports.

Water bombers have been called in to assist with a wildfire burning near Breezy Point in Manitoba. An official with the rural municipality of St. Clements tells CTV News the fire is burning on Crown land, which is adjacent St. Clemens. CTV News reports.

The Go Fish Eatery in the town of Kensington in Prince Edward Island was heavily damaged by fire Sunday morning and is likely beyond repair, says the town’s police chief. Chief Lewis Sutherland says a passerby noticed the fire at about 5:30 a.m. and called 911. CBC News reports.

A roll-off garbage bin behind Ruth and Naomi’s Mission building was the source of a fire Sunday at noon. Fire crews were dispatched from all over the city of Chilliwack in British Columbia, as the bin that was on fire was very close to the mission, which houses and feeds the city’s underprivileged. The Chilliwack Progress reports.
