Rainfall improves dry conditions, fire bans lifting in Saskatchewan

The rainfall over the past weekend came at a critical time for northwest Saskatchewan. Several communities saw more rainfall between Sunday and Monday than they see on average in May. Battlefords Now reports.


Fort St. John sells old fire truck to Firefighters Charitable Society

Fort St. John city council approves the sale of the Engine 1 fire truck for $100 to the Firefighters Charitable Society in British Columbia. Engine 1 is the city’s first fire truck, and the firefighters are looking to repurpose it and use it during events. In the future, they plan to have the truck on display in the fire hall. With parts of N.W.T. still under water, officials expect mild start to wildfire season

Fire officials and crews in the Northwest Territories are gearing up for wildfire season, but officials predict a slow start to the season, as heavy snowfall and aggressive melt has left large parts of the territory “95 to 100 per cent” saturated by water. CBC News reports.
