Striking purple chalk campaign aims to put B.C.’s toxic drug supply deaths back in spotlight

Purple chalk markings resembling forensic body outlines will be drawn on the pavement outside politicians’ offices in North and West Vancouver this weekend. Each outline to mark one of the many lives lost to British Columbia’s ongoing opioid crisis.


Weekend rain helped Northwestern Ontario firefighters

Ontario’s Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services Agency says significant rainfall has helped firefighters dealing with the 79 wildfires still burning in the Northwest Region. TheNewsWatch.com reports.


Huntsville Fire Department gets new fire truck

The Huntsville Lake of Bays Fire Department has a new fire truck.
Located at Fire Station One, the vehicle is a tanker and pumper truck which holds up to 2,500 gallons of water and can pump more than 1,000 gallons per minute. MyMuskokaNow reports.


Community rallies to replace tires stolen off volunteer fire department vehicle

The day began with a disheartening theft that struck a rural Nova Scotia volunteer fire department. It ended with evidence of the generosity and kindness of community. On Wednesday morning, the East River Valley Fire Department in Pictou County discovered someone had stolen all four tires off one of their marked vehicles. Global News reports.
