Ontario saw highest number of fire related deaths in decades in 2022

Jon Pegg, Ontario’s Fire Marshal, said there were 133 fire-related deaths in Ontario last year, and that a “very high percentage” of fatalities happen in homes without working smoke alarms.


January dedicated as Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness month

Occupational cancer is now the leading cause of death among fire fighters – surpassing heart disease. During January, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN) will partner to deliver targeted education and best practices and resources to reduce the impact of cancer on fire fighters.
