Insights from Canadian interoperability leaders: Shaping the future of public safety

On Oct. 11, experts and professionals from the emergency services sector will converge to participate in InterOp Canada, a virtual event focusing on enhancing interoperability between agencies. The free event will offer a platform for discussing key issues and exploring potential solutions for interoperability and incident response among police, fire, EMS, and emergency management.


Millions added to B.C. funding for rural, volunteer and First Nations firefighters

The British Columbia government is providing more money to rural, First Nations and volunteer fire departments across the province. A statement from the Office of the Premier says the money will be used to help local fire departments upgrade equipment and training.


City of Stratford appoints new Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief

The City of Stratford has appointed Neil Anderson as the new Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief. Mr. Anderson has served as Stratford’s Deputy Fire Chief since March 2017, and during that time has also been the City’s Community Emergency Management Co-ordinator (CEMC). He has been Acting Fire Chief since July 2023.


Two firefighters injured, one seriously, in pair of Toronto fires

The chief of Toronto Fire Services says the two firefighters injured in separate fires are a “stark reminder” of the dangerous work crews encounter daily.

Wildfire crisis averted: How teamwork and dedication saved the day

Pete Forshaw had only been Fire Chief of the Greater Madawaska Fire Department for three weeks when a wildfire started in his jurisdiction.
