The City of Peterborough in Ontario has received $9.3 million through the Green Municipal Fund to construct a new net-zero fire station. Funding for the fire station comes from the federal government and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

In Ontario, Mississauga Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Management Deryn Rizzi has been awarded the 2022 Lieutenant Governor’s Medal of Distinction in Public Administration.


Waterloo grad student working to develop novel material to protect firefighter health

Chemical engineering graduate student Drew Davidson is working to develop novel material to create fire fighting gear that would not degrade and cause occupational cancer. His research is inspired by his mother who has been a firefighter in the Cambridge Fire Department in Ontario for 32 years.


Brampton receives electric pumper

The City of Brampton in Ontario has taken delivery of an electric Rosenbauer RTX pumper. The vehicle is equipped with safety and environmentally friendly features including a range extender, all-wheel steering and a run time of nearly 100km on battery power.
