The federal government will invest $467,000 in a new 36-month project called “Gender Equality in Forestry National Action Plan,” run by the Canadian Institute of Forestry, working with a number of industry stakeholders. The project aims to remove barriers that prevent or discourage women from pursuing careers in forestry.

Starting Jan. 1, 2019, Conifex will temporarily reduce operating capacity at its Fort St. James, B.C. sawmill. This is expected to continue until about mid-2019, resulting in an estimated 25 per cent reduction in Conifex’s British Columbia lumber production.
