Zavisha Sawmills maximizes efficiency with upgraded equipment

Tucked away in Hines Creek, Alta., sits family-owned Zavisha Sawmills. Over the years, the mill has successfully adapted and optimized used machinery to fit their needs, which included a used canter line installed in 2014 and upgraded with USNR optimization and controls.

BC cedar mill invests long-term in equipment and people

Family-owned Gilbert Smith Forest Products cedar sawmill in interior B.C. recently upgraded its small log line optimization with a system from MPM Engineering. And in 2013, the mill installed a slabber and carriage and a headrig that can cut up to 42-inch diameters. The install included Lewis controls optimization and 3D wood scanners from LMI Technologies.

Groupe Lebel’s Price sawmill invests $8M in upgrades

The Price sawmill planned to install a new GEN3 optimizer from Autolog – similar to one recently installed at Clermont Hamel’s sawmill in Beauce, Que. – before the end of 2019. The new optimization system was expected to improve lumber recovery to 3.3 cubic metres/mfbm.
