Northern Pulp cleanup paused after additional sludge discovered

The shuttered pulp mill‘s cleanup, which was set to begin this fall, has been paused after an independent assessment of the lagoons this summer revealed an extra 194,000 cubic metres of sludge.

“We are optimistic, but we also recognize that our business is cyclical and that it is not yet clear whether the worst of the pandemic is behind us,” said Peter Wijnbergen, Norbord’s president and CEO.
